I've been using Word 2010 to create and publish blogger posts for over a year with no problems. Suddenly it will not let me publish a post. (Word cannot publish this post). I thought it might be something in that post, so I created a new one from scratch. Just a simple "this is a test" type post. Same deal. So I tried to create a new account in Word and I get another error message "Word cannot register your account".
I note that a new Spam filter has been implemented at the same time. Is it possible this has broken my ability to post/connect from Word 2010? If not, any suggestions to get it working again?
Roger, yes, Google/Blogger often do change their backend systems, but it is not their responsibility to ensure that other people who use their system update and fix their code when these changes occur.
It's up to Microsoft to fix the problem, or for their developers to reach out to the Google Team and ask them what has changed.
It's Microsoft responsibility to do that. It's a feature of THEIR software that is no longer functioning.
Yes, I have access to my account. I can post, edit, etc. directly through blogger, but not through Word. I can limp along by cutting and pasting from Word into the blogger interface (actually it would be better to paste into Notepad, then cut and paste to Blogger), but it's a nuisance and I'd like to figure out why it's happened all of a sudden.
I am frustrated by this problem as well. It seems that both Microsoft and Google are "pointing the finger" at each other. If anyone does find a solution to this I would love to know it!
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928329. There are no categories in the blog post, and I tried creating and posting a "vanilla" post with the same result.
For this: http://vspug.com/usecases/2008/04/06/word-cannot-publish-this-post/, I do not have saved username and password for Blogger. Nevertheless, I looked at the stored passwords as described here:http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/78799-how-delete-saved-username-password.html, and none of the stored passwords were for blogger. (First I've heard of this function, kind of neat.)
Has anyone anwhere found a fix for this? Let's just have a straight answer. I was publishing successfully with 2007, I cannot publish with 2010. No default settings from 2007 were brought into 2010, so it probably is a Word problem but for goodness sake, work out what the Word fix is and tell everyone!
It takes two to communicate and Blogger could have easily changed something in its protocol that stops Word from connecting. I've been publishing from Word 2010 with no problem for a year. Same computer, same Word installation. Why is it necessarily Word's fault?
While it's possible some automatic update to Word caused the problem, its equally possible that some change at Blogger is responsible. This happened at the same time that Blogger introduced its new Spam Filter. It is at least worth investigating whether this (or some other recent change) has affected Word's ability to connect rather than just assuming it is an issue with Word.

Google/Blogger has a responsibility *to their customers* to maintain compatibility if at all possible. If they must make some change that breaks that compatibility, they should let people know and explain why it was necessary. If it was an unintended consequence of some change (which is often the case), they should work to remedy the problem. It is much easier to fix a problem at the server-side rather than at several million clients.
That said, I posted here to see if it was a wide-spread issue or something unique to me. Each company pointing fingers at the other isn't helping anybody.
having the same issue...was trying to post using word 2010...couldn't even register my account in word..Just a bugging message: 'Word can not register your account'!!!
Well, I still haven't found the answer to Word, but my solution is to use a different blog editor. Windows Live Writer ( http://explore.live.com/windows-live-writer?os=other ) works really well. I can copy and paste from my Word document without loss of formatting that I'd get if I tried to paste into the Blogger editor.
I just began having the same problem. (Why it should take effect so much later for me than for the OP, I don't know.)
My Blogger account access is fine, but after 6 full months of publishing directly from Word 2010 to Blogger, it all of a sudden doesn't work. I did the same kinds of things as the OP, and I also tried using the Repair function on Word, but it had no effect.
With all the other problems Blogger's been having lately, "Blame Microsoft!" isn't even especially plausible.
My blog is mainly for the weak, helping people to maintain and work in line with Jesus given conscience. Getting enslaved believers free from glutton and money focus pastors. Read your Bible regularly and stop worshipping man- made rules and regulations. Only Jesus can save.
